Uncle E and Aunt Lizzie

We had a super-fun weekend with Eric and Liz! We moved to St. Louis from Richmond in June of last year so Nash had only been walking a few months when we left. He's come a long way in that time. But being faithful followers of the blog, Eric and Liz pretty much knew what to expect from the little man. (They've also seen him run back and forth in his diaper, thanks to Skype.) But it was their first time to hold little Margot and hear giggles and coos. We headed one morning to the butterfly house, where Liz discovered how much Nash likes watching coins spin in circles before being donated to good causes, and the carousel. We also took the tour at the Budweiser brewery, nearly getting lost in the Mardi Gras madness, and ate some goooood barbeque at Pappy's. I've been sad since they've been gone, it was so nice to hang out with them and watch them play with the kids. See you soon, Eric and Liz!! Thanks for coming!!!

Margot's feet, a visit to the doctor & a lot of hullaballoo

Margot discovered her feet on her 4 month birthday and she's discovered a whole new world of fun times. I think I would play with my feet a lot more if they were cute like hers. Anyway, we went to the doctor yesterday and both kids are doing well. Nash looks skinny, but weighs in at 31 lbs, which is the 83rd percentile. He is only 26th percentile for height though, despite the huge growth spurt he's had in the last two months. Little Miss Margot is destined for the catwalk with length in the 85th percentile and weighing only 12 lbs. 3 ounces, the 19th percentile. The doctor said he wasn't concerned about her weight since her growth is good. One of Nash's favorite toys he received for his birthday was a doctor kit, so we brought it with us and he had fun examining me, himself, Margot, and the Dino toy.
Now we're just getting ready for our next guests tomorrow. I cleaned while the little ones napped today, and Nash is doing his best to show Uncle Eric and Aunt Lizzie what our house usually looks like!

Weeee it's my big brother's birthday!

We've had so much fun with Nash during his second birthday week. Maeme and G have been here visiting, so there's been a lot of activity and shopping by everyone. We've also taken out his baby journal and spent some time reminiscing and filling in the blanks, laughing over "Nashisms" and amazed at how much he's grown and what a fantastic, loveable little guy he is. All of Nash's friends came over Thursday morning for a little cupcake decorating birthday party, which involved dinosaur shaped rice crispy treats and party hats, a lot of playing with new toys, and a lot of sprinkles! Some kids were too little for cupcakes, some gobbled them up in 30 seconds and some took a little longer. Nash's preference was to pour as many sprinkles on top as he could (for about 20 minutes) take 3 bites, and feed the rest to Mommy. In other news, Nash is a huge fan of Chipotle and I split a burrito with him yesterday. He loved holding it himself, and did a pretty good job on it.
Margot's also having the best week ever. She's got lots of people to make faces and smile at her, and that's pretty much all she needs to stay happy. She is so interactive and talks all the time. We are letting her practice sitting in the Bumbo seat to get her ready for rice cereal. She needs to build up to it a little bit, she's not quite ready for a feeding session. She's sleeping about an 8.5 hour stretch at night, then going back to sleep again for another few hours. In taking out the baby journals this week, I realize I have a little work to do on hers. Blogs are so great for going back and remembering accomplishments and feelings and makes me so glad we have been keeping this record. So in comparing the blogs, for anyone who might be wondering, Margot's hair looks exactly like Nash's when he was her age. The color might be slightly different, but the length is exact. So we might have another baby with a full head of hair.
So next weekend Uncle Eric and Aunt Lizzie are visiting- first trip to St. Louis and first time to see the little lady. We can't wait to have them here!

Look what Margot can do!!

Go go Emme, go go!

And some other cute pictures of her too.

This is my last night, practicing being strong and holding my head up high.
Here I am this morning before nap time, looking cute on my tummy.

HI! I used to be on my tummy and when Mommy came back I was just like this... on my back!

SNOW and pretending

Hello! We've been snowed in the last few days and had some fun adventures outside. Some adventures were not so fun. Why did I think it would be fun for little guy to play in snow higher than his boots? It was fun to go on a walk this weekend with the whole family when the snow was a little lower. Margot looks adorable all bundled up in her pink snowsuit (thank you again, Audrey!) and is being a great sport.
I feel like Nash has suddenly grown out of all of his toys and I need all new ones for him. He's doing a lot of pretending and imagining and figuring things out. His Handy Manny tool set is now serving double duty as not only a shape sorter and music box, but his go-to repair kit... and what do you know, everything in this house suddenly needs repairing! Nash is great with his screwdriver.
Also making him some pretend toys, including the little pizza. He's way into pizza lately. He's playing with and loving the cupcake shape sorters. They're definitely more complex than any of the other shape sorters we've given him to play with. He's really lighting up when I show him new challenges!

Not to be outdone, Margot is getting prettier :) and looking all around and grabbing at things and laughing and smiling at everyone. I keep trying to take some videos but she's so distracted by the camera and the lights and instantly stops whatever cute thing she's doing. I'll keep trying!
