Look at me! I'm standing!
Travelin' Man
This was a big weekend for the little guy! Nash successfully slept as we drove up half of the East coast, met his great aunt and uncle in New Jersey, shopped at The Mall at Short Hills, ate the best Italian food in Long Island at Bravo! Nader, met lots more cousins, watched the sunset from the beach for the first time, was quiet through a wedding, hung out in Huntington Village, and discovered the wonder of his Whoozit. Check out how strong his legs are! OK I gotta go, he's crying and clawing at my face. His arms are strong too. Ouch. That's "uncle" Elliot giving him bunny ears. Nice. It's about time someone gave the cute baby bunny ears.

10 weeks old today
Here's Nash this morning dreaming about birthday cakes and pinatas. And here's his pudgy little legs. Hardly seems like Nash has been around for 10 weeks! He's getting chubby cheeks and arms and legs, and is putting his hands together and almost sleeping through the night. And he makes the cutest little coos and gurgle noises. It's awesome. In the morning we watch my recording of The Wonder Years from the re-runs the night before and the stories about Kevin and his Mom make me cry. I love my little baby boy!! Last weekend Nash partied at our Crawfish Boil. He spent time hanging out on the back deck with the guys drinking beer. (The guys were, not the baby. He prefers Starbucks.) And he cried and napped and graciously accepted gifts. This weekend is our trip to NY. Can't wait for him to meet the family.
Happy 10th week birthday Munchkin Man. Just kidding about the Starbucks thing.

I'M GROWING!
We went to the doctor this morning. Nash is 12 lbs. 12 oz.! And they say he's 22 inches long, but I think they're wrong. He was 20.5 at birth and he seems so much longer than that now. Big Boy!

Smiles like Chris Farley
Don't you think that there's some element of comedy to this smile?? It's like he has a sneaky-funny-bad-boy smile. Little scratch on his nose today. Just getting ready to go to Stony Point and walk around with Mary Ann and baby Eliza (will take a picture, of course). We stayed in all day yesterday and need more human contact.

Walter Matthou?
Wendseday Presents
Eric wanted Nash to have cool clothes and look like him, so he got him a hoodie. He actually gave it to him while wearing a hoodie. But it is really cute and Nash likes it. See? Even though he cried all the way through dinner, he was happy and smiley when we got home. Thanks for dinner!
Nash also got a new portable-type bouncer to take on all of our upcoming vacations. Yay for travel! Can't wait to go to Cousin David's wedding in NY to see all the cousins.

Where did we get the name NASH?
We're not completely sure. But there are a few references which certainly helped.
The N is for Brooke's Grandfather, Norman, who was born in Vienna in 1920. He came over to the US and joined the Army then went back to Europe to fight in WWII. Brooke's grandmother was born in Paris and that's where they met in 1943. They were married February 9, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY.
Nash is also for the great city of Nashville, Tennessee, home to Vanderbilt University, where Ray went to (and loved) college.
Some other mostly irrelevant references to the name Nash:
The Adventures of Pluto Nash is a movie with Eddie Murphy which is supposed to be really terrible. Here's the plot according to Wikipedia, "In the year 2087, Pluto Nash owns one of the best nightclubs on the moon. A gangster wants to buy Pluto's club for Rex Crater, who has plans to take over the entire moon. Pluto hires a singer named Dina to work for him. The gangsters attack forcing Pluto, Dina, and Bruno (Pluto's robot bodyguard) to flee and find out what Rex Crater wants with the help of Pluto's old friend Tony Francis, an Italian singing sensation."
Ogden Nash is an American poet who wrote some funny stuff. There is a link to some of his work with the other links on this page. He's the guy who wrote "Candy is dandy; but liquor is quicker."
Of course there's also Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills & Nash. And there's the Nash Metropolitan, which is that cute little car that Christian picks up Cher in for their date in Clueless.
Mostly I think we just like the way it sounds.

First Blog
I am taking WAY too many pictures of Nash. But I want them all. I also don't want to continue to send them to everyone and clog up friends email boxes until they are no longer our friends. So hopefully if you want to see pictures of Nash you will bookmark this website. And I promise only to send pictures to you when they are exceptionally cute.
