All about Margot
Nash is still icky sicky with a cough and runny/stuffy nose. But he's getting better. We know this because at least he's eating again. This morning while he was eating in his chair, Margot was playing in the bouncer. There's nothing happier than a smiley squeely baby. So Brie and Jen, whenever morning sickness kicks in, don't forget that this is what you're looking forward to! This made my day, hope it makes yours too.

Here's lookin' at you, kid
Handy Nashy wakes at dawn, time to work the whole day long!
The stores are closed, so in we stay,
While Daddy brews some beer, we play!
At dinner latkes are a dream, with applesauce and sour cream!
When evening comes there's not a peep, Margot counts her sleeping sheep.
We had a very busy day today! Nash has a runny nose that needs to be wiped about every 5 seconds. He is otherwise feeling ok, it just seemed like I would not have had enough hands today to play with and take care of Nash and Margot. So glad Ray was hom!! Since Ray's off today for Christmas (Merry Christmas to Ray's family and our friends celebrating!!) we decided to give Nash a present this morning that would be fun for us all to play with together. We light Hanukkah candles at night, usually not too long before Nash goes to sleep, and we thouight he'd like some more time to play with this- which was a good decision! We gave him a Handy Manny tool box with the tools that come out and sing songs, and dance, and talk, and boooooooy does he like it. It's also a shape sorter, each tool has a different shape handle and has its own place in the tool box. So that was a lot of fun to play with. Also, today, we played with play-doh, Margot napped in her crib for the first time, we took some pictures of Margot replicating photos of Nash, we cooked some delicious food and fried up some yummy yummy latkes, and are now watching Casablanca and talking to family.

Girls weekend in New Orleans
The weather was so bad on Friday it looked like we weren't going to make it! But Margot and I got there on time, and Mom arrived at 10 that night. We wasted no time, and immediately started eating delicious food- the most fantastic burger I've ever had from Chef Besh's restaurant Luke. It's so nice to have friends who work for hotels in New Orleans, we got treated so well! We had yummy beniegts and shopped the French Market and at the Martin LaBorde gallery (my favorite) and had a bloody mary or two and discovered new favorite little shops and spent time with Stacey and Morty. That really doesn't wrap it up, because we had such a great time! Margot was great and Mom and I just got to soak it all in - we LOVE New Orleans and it was so nice to spend a weekend (albeit a quick one) relaxing and being together without a million things to do.
Margot slept very well in New Orleans, during the day and at night. I guess she likes the humid air. Since she was born in October, it's really been too cold for us to spend much time outside.
Enjoying some Zapps chips and Abita :)
The holiday decorations on Canal Street were so pretty! There's nothing like palm trees and 70 degrees at the end of December.
Here we are at Casamentos, before consuming some tasty fried seafood.
Mom in her happy place, Cafe Du Monde!

Snowy morning!
It took Ray 70 minutes to drive into work this morning! It's been cold here the last few days- in the teens!! It's such a pretty morning I thought I'd take Nash out to play, but I think he was too cold. We started to take a walk but it didn't last very long and we came back inside to watch Disney Clubhouse.

Weekend sillys
Me playing with my silly little man earlier today
Here's Margot in her first coveralls (a skirt for my darlin' little girl) sitting on MY baby blanket!
Ray said Nash looked like a Fisherman today.
I love this picture- don't you think Margot looks content?
HHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Thanks to Sara from England for sending me moustaches for my 30th! What more could a girl want?
We had so much fun this weekend for my 30th birthday! We didn't do much, but we didn't need to since I am SO LUCKY to do mostly everything I want every single day. All I wanted was to be with Ray and Nash and Margot. Oh, and for Margot to sleep through the night (hee hee) AND SHE DID! We baked and went on a walk and shopped for fun stuff at ArtMart and organized the pantry and had friends over and drank wine and it was perfect. Well, it could be more perfect if the laundry would do itself. Now only 4 days until New Orleans, then Hanukkah! As Nash would say, "Wheeeeee!"

Best Morning Ever!
Last night was looong. Margot fell asleep 3 hours past her normal bedtime and was crying a lot :( I could tell it was a tummy thing. Then the night went similarly from there. I was sooooo tired this morning, and I have to go to the doctor at 11:30. So I figured the only thing to do was to do something high-energy and super fun and pretend that I had a great night sleep. And it has been such a great morning! Margot is asleep, of course, and Nash and I baked our first batch of cookies together! I just made an kitchen/craft apron for a friend's little boy's first birthday and I thought it was really cute, so I made one for Nashy too.
Nash's favorite part was definitely pouring on the sprinkles! I'm pretty sure my kitchen floor is covered with them!
Practicing cutting cookies
I can get into this cookie baking thing!
Shaking this little jar is definitely my favorite part!
Look how pretty they turned out, I'm such a good little chef.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYUM.

What to expect... who knows!?
Wait a second, I thought I was going to learn about what to expect from Mommy and Daddy the first year!
We have a new play table courtesy Grammy for Hanukkah! It's so cute, and Nash loves it! Always talking about his table and chairs and wants to spend every minute downstairs now. We used to always play on the main level, so being downstairs is an adjustment for me. But... anything to make them happy.
Yay! Margot's getting smiley!
Nashy wasn't in trouble, just wearing his bucket hat and sitting on a new stool. He's very into chairs his size.

Girls just wanna have fun
We had a fun morning today at Brook's house playing with her and James and Brie and Alex. James has a huge train table (that we had to stop Nash from disassembling) and a slide. The boys had a great time, and Margot and Keira played until Keira's naptime, then Margot slept too. Margot's mommy dressed her in frilly tights today :)
"Thanks Audrey, Mitch and Jake for this cool shirt! It's sweeeet."
This was a great moment in time captured... I was trying to take a picture of Margot, and Nash decided to tell me where her belly button is right as I went to snap the shot!
Yay! I love Margot's frilly tush! This little dress is so cute and super duper soft, she looks like a little snow angel in it :)

Busy busy!
Why is everything a mess even though my kids are both asleep? Maybe I'm so sleepy I've lost the ability to recognize what needs to be done. After all, I did through my debit card in the trash can at the Starbucks drive through today. Don't worry, I realized it about a minute later and dug through the trash until I found it.
The good news is that everyone is doing great. Margot is smiling. Nash is happy. All is well. Thanksgiving in Chicago was a blast and now it's December and I'm almost 30 and it's almost Hanukkah and in a few weeks Margot and I will travel to New Orleans to meet Mom for a birthday bash! Every month is great. This month has a lot of exciting things happening! I can't believe Margot is almost 7 weeks. She's focusing on things and moving her eyes better, and listening to music. She is amazing.

Asleep on the changing table
This is what Margot's doing today... sleeping! A lot of it! She even fell asleep on the changing table! But it's only 1:30, and she's stirring a little big so maybe it's too early to say. She could be awake any minute for the next 5 hours. It could still be a long afternoon. Nash hasn't wanted to nap the last two afternoons so I was completely exhausted yesterday! Pulling my hair out by the time Ray came home from work (early) to comfort me :) I guess he just doesn't want to miss out on anything. I understand. I have a feeling maybe I was the same way? He cried himself to sleep today after 20 minutes. It kills me to hear him cry!! But I also need a little bit of a break during the day. That's ok, isn't it? Sigh. Anyway, I have some packing to do. Tomorrow we leave for Chicago!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

1 month check up
Two cuties
This is totally rediculous, I know. But won't it be fun when I can put home-made bows in her hair?
What a sweet little girl. I like her.
Every boy needs a trusty steed.
We went to the doctor this morning, Margot will be 5 weeks old on Friday! I can see her getting so much bigger. We think she's doing great, and her doctor agrees! She's 8 lbs. 14 oz., which is only 36%, but is still good. She's more like 60th % for height and head circumference. She's eating good and (fingers crossed) mostly sleeping through the night! She's still asleep a lot during the day too. Which does not necessarily give me more time to blog - as you can see. Yesterday I spent all afternoon cooking! It's nice to do a little bit of the things I like to do too, instead of spend all my time focusing on kids, and cleaning. I'm going to try and take a picture of Margot smiling in the next few days. She has such a pretty smile!
Our advisor from Parents As Teachers came yesterday and was pretty impressed with Nash. If you haven't seen Nash in a few months you probably don't know that one if his favorite things to say is "thank you". Positive feed-back does wonders. Every time he gets a toy or food or book or anything, he says thank you. He's also picking up bigger words. Yesterday it was "tissue". Anyway, he's awesome. We went to McDonald's today and got him a Happy Meal so we could get the Madagascar toy. I gave it to him and he said "hippo!" and I didn't even know he knew "hippo" it's so funny.
