Laughter's the best medicine
Nash is a sicky-head! He's actually much better now (I think) but yesterday was pretty rough with vomiting and 102 fever and 3 baths total and 2 loads of laundry and whimpering and sadness. Ray came home from work early to help me out, which was wonderful, and even brought me flowers! Nash's fever was down to 99 this morning and we stayed in today and let him play and take it easy and recover. Nash learned his mommy's favorite joke a few days ago, and here's a video of him taking his own approach to telling it tonight. Let's hope for a healthy baby tomorrow!

Climbing Out!
OK I know it looks like I was egging him on, but honestly I didn't expect him to do it!! I didn't really know that he could so easily, or that he would do it so fast! What do we do now? I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself :(

Lions, knitting and baby, oh my!
Remember when I looked little and my lion looked big? Well now I love to climb up on him and give his great big hugs!!
Here's a sweater my Grammy knitted for me. Isn't it nice?? Now if it would only get cool outside...
I don't know what happened to Fall and those few days of nice weather we were having! It's back into the 80's and the AC blower in my car is broken. We brought it in yesterday and need to bring it back in a few days to have the part installed. Marji and Maya picked us up and brought us home. When she was leaving she said she would come pick me up if I went into labor, which freaked me out a little! I'm 36 weeks now, and while I don't expect to have a baby any day now, it's gettign close. But that was just the first little freak out session I had yesterday. The second, major one was Nash making so much noise during "nap time" that I thought it sounded like he wasn't even in his crib. Guess what? He wasn't! He climbed out!!! He had a boo boo on his lip, and just a little dried blood, but was otherwise ok. We took EVERYTHING out of his crib. Scared me to death. This morning some friends came over to watch Nash while I went to the Dr. So far so good! Nothing much to tell. BIG thanks to Marji, Kevin, Brie and Brook for watching Nash!

Fall's coming!
It makes me giggle a little to think that Nash doesn't remember what cold weather is like. I wonder what he's thinking when we go outside in the morning and he feels the cool air on his face. Or if he thinks I'm crazy when I get him dressed in pants, longsleeves, jackets and vests. "Mommy, I'm going to burn up out there! Oh wait, it feels different outside today. OK, I'm good." It's been so nice to have a break from the heat. It's felt like a long Summer, the sun and humidity are a lot to handle, even for this Southern girl. Here are some pics from yesterday morning, enjoying the weather outside Starbucks. (In case you didn't know, our friends Marji and Maya have a blog, which mentions Nash pretty often and has pictures too. There's a link to it on the right side of Nash's page.)

Big bucks in our yard!
Unfortunately, we did not find buried treasure. But it was exciting to look out the kitchen window and see 5 huge antlered Bucks in our back yard! (Nash said "Doggies!" of course.) We had a huge amount of rain this morning from hurricane Ike and it was dark and cloudy out, but not raining, when these guys showed up and hung out for about 10 minutes. We probably only live about 15 miles from downtown St. Louis, so I'm always surprised when I see deer, but there are so many of them here!

Little Wizard
Is purple girly? Is playing dress-up girly? Nash's Mommy doesn't think so. I forgot I ordered this, must've done it after I saw him having fun playing in the turtle costume. I think we were looking for a super-hero-type cape. But really, in a battle between Superman and Dumbledore, is there any question that Dumbledore would win? I guess we'll keep it, Nash loves it!!

At the Loveless Cafe (outside Nashville)

Nashville! Tennessee, that is.
The 10 gallon hat didn't quite fit, but this place has a great deal! Buy one pair of boots, get two free! Nash reaaally wanted these bad little stompers, but we've got some more time to look around.
Here are Daddy and his boy hangin' out on Vanderbilt Campus. I can only imagine the stories Ray is recounting to him while I'm out of earshot.
We hear Nash was a good boy last night while we were at the wedding, but he wasn't interested in going back to sleep in the hotel room. We listened to "Mamamamamamamamama Dada Mamamama" for about an hour until around midnight, then again this morning at 6:45. So it started out as a pretty sleepy morning! On the plus side, there was no line at Pancake Pantry when we got there at 7:15.
"Hang on now, Mommy and Daddy went out without me last night? I thought I was just having play-time with Susan!"
For anyone who cares to see, this is how big I am now.

Rainy Day
We're seeing what's left of Gustav today, but have still managed to have a really nice day. We had friends over this morning, Marji and Maya, Brook, James and Keira, and Anne and Mariel all braved wet roads and bad drivers to play. Nash took a short nap and we decided it was time to venture over to the Hairy Elephant and have Nash's hair cut. We did a few errands and came back home. Now Nash is contemplating life and his future, staring out the window into the rain, and curling up in a comfy corner with a few books. Life is good.
