Day 1, Friday: post below. After the initial tears, he had a great time! I think the highlight was definitely riding on the school bus to and from the SPCA.
Day 2, Monday: Feeling very apprehensive. In the morning most talk was of not wanting to go to school today. His eyes were red and teary all morning. Didn't get much better when we got to school and found out that his teacher, Mary Beth, wasn't there today. But the good news is the Dinosaurs (Nash's class) got to play all day with the Butterflies (3-4 year olds) and they played with a parachute. The end of the day report was good.
Day 3, Tuesday: Morning. "I just want to go to school now. I'm just ready to go to school." He was excited! Said he was going to ask Mary Beth if they're going to ride on another school bus. Was excited when we got there and saw Nannee, the school dog, and when he changed into his inside shoes. But, I waited just long enough to see him sit down in story circle and start to cry a minute later. But at the end of the day when I picked him up, the rest of his class (who is there a full day) sang a good-bye song to him (We love you Nash...). And he ate the school lunch for the first time (applesauce and gumbo!) and loved washing his own dishes! The report from the director is that Nash spent a very long time washing his plate, then set it down to dry, then got in line to wash some more. After 3 rotations they told him that was enough.
And while the cat's away the mice will play. Which is to say, Margot is having a ball playing with her big brother's trucks while he is gone. Next post: the birthday post! Nash's 3rd birthday was Saturday and we partied down.
